Be consistent in recommending an operating system

-40 points posted to Dell Web Site, Sales Strategies by mugunth 11/03/07

Sometimes I see
"Dell recommends Windows Vista® Business"
and sometimes,
"Dell recommends Windows Vista® Home Premium"

Why does Dell make this recommendation in such and such context?
Please make this clear to your customers...

It would make sense for them to recommend Vista Business on a business machine, no?

That`s what I have been seeing to. Business on a business machine and home premium on a home machine.

it is very clear, When you are on the Business's part of the site they recommend Vista Business. and if you're on home they suggest home Prem. not Clear enough?

I think that sugarbear is right, but I think that they should recommend Windows Vista Ultimate to all customers.

I sure wouldn`t get home basic on any thing. M$ should drop that.

I would only get Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate (or in very rare cases XP) on any PC until the next version comes out.

@winoffice, I am also a small business, when I ordered this Dell, I ordered XP Pro for what I needed. I won`t get Vista until at least SP1 and then it depends. It will be vista Ultimate. Now if we can just get M$ to add the things they have been promising.

@sugarbear, concerning Service Pack 1 for Vista, it will be available in the early second quarter of 2008, around the same time when Service Pack 3 for XP will appear, so it will not be a very long wait. As for XP, it will not be available after June 30 2008.
