The XPS might just have met it's match. HPs Blackbird 002 is looking pretty awesome. http://h20435.www2.hp.com/#/

HP is just using this case, change your title and replace HP with CoolerMaster:

It doesn't matter. HP are huge and they sell in the shops. The HP version looks much better anyway. It's obvious this is their answer to the XPS and to be honest it looks better and the shear number of options make it so much more tempting. I can't wait to see how much it costs. I never noticed any price on their site.

People actually buy that stuff at those prices? It's a box with wires in and a lick of paint! My 1 year old niece could do better. Personally i thought the new HP machine made the XPS look like a box with a few cheap fairy lights stuck on for show. But that just takes the biscuit. I should get me a work shop and go into rig building. It's clearly not that hard.

@aikiwolfie - thanks for your thoughts... but there's no idea for Dell here.

Perhaps the idea is to keep up with the competition. HP are offering a list of CPU choices as long as your arm with the Blackbird 002. Dell offer 2 with it's top range XPS systems. The Blackbird looks better designed aesthetically, internally and the range of customization choices totally out strips anything Dell have on offer.

Since I've been posting on IdeaStorm there's two things that have struck home with me. Everybody here wants more choice. Everybody here feels Dell aren't listening and aren't really delivering. The competition are currently offering what Dells customers are asking for. Give us a reason to stay with Dell.

sounds like an idea to me dell_admin1. maybe dell should pay attention to the competition and the customer base, and not disregard good postings like this one designed to draw attention to the shortcomings dell wants us to point out... or maybe dell should just sell the hp blackbird on dell website to save all that trouble.

true they should!

Well to be honest I think to say we have an option at the moment is stretching the truth a bit. What's already on offer on the UK site is basically two versions of the same chip. That's not much to choose from.

hi aikiwolfie
there in the uk you can buy a HP BlackBird 002???

So far as I know they aren't available any where until October. I don't see why I couldn't get one even if I had to import it. The Blackbirds PSU is compatible with UK standards.

"Line voltage: 100-120V AC or 200-240V AC (wide-range power supply input voltage)"

I might also add it's not just the physical machine that goes with it that is better designed. It's all the information HP are putting out as well. Everything you need to know is there in one slick flash presentation. HP really want to sell this system to their customers. There is simplified information for those who don't really understand the technical specifications and there are full technical specifications for those who do understand them and want them. HP couldn't have made things any easier.

It's safe to say I won't be buying another Dell.

The power button assembly on my £1300+ XPS 700 just disintegrated. To turn the system on I now need to reach inside and fiddle around until I catch the actual power switch. What the hell is wrong with a good solid switch? To make matters worse my system is normally always on. The power button hardly gets touched!!!

Well it's a nice looking machine. With dual NIC's. I also don't like specialized cases. Like how you can't buy a regular video card for a 210. It does however look like serious competition for the H2C.

Both machines take regular cards. All HP have done to theirs is put a new heat sink on that connects to the liquid cooling system. It's just the same as adding liquid cooling to the H2C CPU. But i think I'll go back to building my own systems. It's a pain having to spec all the components and assemble it all. But at least I'll know something as simple as a power button isn't going to fail on me. It'll be interesting to see what HPs' build quality is like.

Apparently HP fubared an SLI board to take CrossFire cards? Why would anybody do this? Seems like the XPS may have a stay of execution.

Yes it is aikiwolfie! It is one of the ugliest HP desktop PCs that I have ever seen!

What is the idea here by the way?

You're clearly not paying much attention to the stuff HP pushed out then.
