dell_admin1 recently explained a little about the effect of comments in an idea that are not related to the topic.

"The reason I've been deleting the babble lately is that everyone needs to remember that there are often high-level people at Dell that review the ideas (and the comments)... I'm your advocate inside Dell, and it makes it tough for me to be good at that when execs or managers are distracted by the babble on the idea threads... and use that to dismiss the idea altogether! The less babble about age and weather and who likes who and who doesn't, the more credibility here. Please don't confuse though... discussion of the idea or the products, etc. is not babble... the babble is just the fighting, name-calling, etc. Hope that makes sense."

While it makes sense that they might react that way it is the wrong thing to do on their part. You have no way to control who comments in your ideas. Many of us have babbled not realising we were only hurting our ideas when we were only trying to get attention brought to it.

This is aimed at the executives more than the users. I feel pretty bad about sbout having conversations in ideas, but you can't change the past. I figured if I posted this as an idea we could all discuss it and still be "on topic".

I figured this would spread the word but also educate the executives. Just because they have to act a certain way doesn't mean that the customers have to. Its like forcing people to wear a jacket and tie to eat at McDonalds.

@dell_admin1 - I hope I didn't get you in trouble with this one. I changed the wording on the first comment so it would make sense now.
