If only there were a joke category - this seems a cute parody of Carly-era-HP. "Gee - we can merge with Compaq to become #1 - and then announce layoffs and cutbacks to make us #2 again ".
Nah, Personally I Think Dell And Hp Are better off alone. They are too good to become one i need competition. Also if dells want to buy out a lamo company buy out apple Not IBM totally not worth it at least with Apple you would have More MP3'S to sell get rid of Iphone and make a "new" version and You would have another option of Mac Os. Even though i find it very difficult myself to use it. I was gonna add more to this but i forgot what to say. I'll add it later
Anyway - It's relevant to this Idea that Michael Dell weighed in with his opinion of Lenovo earlier http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=819
In a joint venture between Lenovo and IBM, Michael Dell anticipates the repetition of a pattern seen in many such ventures where two very different organizations fail to mesh. According to CNET News.com’s Stephen Shankland, reporting from this morning’s Q&A session with Dell executives at Oracle’s OpenWorld conference, Dell said "We’re not big fans of the idea of taking companies and smashing them together. When was the last time you saw a successful acquisition or merger in the computer industry? It hasn’t happened in a long, long time…I don’t see this one as being all that different."
I expect Lenovo's current shareholders would want more than Dell could afford, tho; and since it seems that a chinese government controls almost half the shares of Lenovo its possible they wouldn't let it go at any price.
Well i can say to dell if your going to buy any company just buy Out Emachines or Acer there machines are pretty impressive right now and it would make a good addition to your Systems
How much do you think eMachines or Acer is worth? Is it worth the effort for Dell to go into market to buy out any of these? They did buy Alienware, but the Alienware machines have their own following. But wouldn't Acer systems and Dell systems be in a competition within itself, if it so happens?
Being a leader does not mean that they need not merge. Merging with a company similar to Lenovo, will help Dell gain a foothold in some of the markets that Dell could be struggling to establish themselves in.
