This is possibly the ugliest laptop I've ever seen!

I'm praying this is fake.

Take cues from the 1330, please!

davmcn 08/06/07	WHY IS EVERYONE COPYING MY IDEA THAT GOT DELETED??? i had this idea up last night and the admin took it down cause of Terms and conditions. They will take it down but i totally agree they can't make it look like that or else sales will go down Massievely.

bobwalt 08/07/07	I suspect that it will look OK in person as long as the only choice is not red and black. It is the color choice that makes it hideous. Take the same design and change the red to Gold or solid black with Gold letters and it would look classy.
winoffice 08/08/07	I demoted by accident. My browser just now was "Not Responding" and made me click the wrong choice. Make the XPS M1730 look just like the XPS Generation 2 17".

nicopoon 08/08/07	AGREE 100.00%! The current previewed picture of the 1730 XPS is horrible. Worst laptop look ever. Think M1330 XPS (great looks and features), think Macbook Pro (great looks and features). See the pattern? I'm sure the 1330M is selling great, too :)

jjkoch 08/09/07	Ok, I have major beef right now. My DIY tower broke and my roomate has been cool enough to let me borrow his old iBook (eeww). I have been waiting patiently for months and months for this laptop to come out (i was hoping for a 15 inch, but whatever). I almost caved and got something else until the m1330 came out. I was so excited that their bigger laptops would look similar to that. SEXY! If this picture is really what it is going to be I will be so pissed I probably wont buy dell again. Get your heads out of the sand dell.

brandx_76 08/22/07	I think a few lid color scheme options will be offered (cfr current xps models), so that shouldn't be much of a problem. But my god, that keyboard has to go. Including a white (-ish) keyboard in what is already a two-tone design is about the worst layout decision you could make. Also, why is the touch pad not properly centered?
cucullen 08/23/07	This must be a joke. Dell can not put that design on the market. Also there is no HDMI on it but it has Blue Ray. The XPS 1330 has HDMI but no Blur Ray ?????????????????

jjkoch 08/23/07	I mean, c'mon. I held off buying a 1710 for so long waiting for this thing. then my sister bought the m1330. Beautiful machine. LED display, slim formfactor, slot-loading dvd burner, the works. Sexy as hell. If Dell actually releases this, ( i know no one is gonna give a damn) but I'm calling for a boycott of the xps series. There is no reason on earth why you should release something so nice then downgrade the rest of the line. total BS Dell, dont let me down. (Also i know dell cant do anything about this but where is my mobile 8800??)

winoffice 09/12/07	I would make it look like the XPS M170 (this is not the XPS M1710 becuase there is no extra 1 between the 7 and the 0) and make it available for $2,499. The reason for that price: The XPS M170 started at $2,699, the M1710 at about $2,599. So it would seem logical to continue that pattern and set the price for the new PC at $2,499. A hundred dollars (or even fifty!) for the M1730 redesign and I would be glad to help Dell redesign the M1730, as well as any other product. By the way, most people already know what the M1710 looks like. But for those of you who do not know what the XPS M170 (no extra 1 between the 7 and the 0 like in the XPS M1710) looks like, here are some pictures.

You said that it looks nice... kvm, maybe you will edit the idea, so that it would say "Take cues from the 1330, please. And also, offer the XPS M170 design as an option."?
winoffice 09/12/07	Also, the difference between the M170 and the M1710 lies not only in the name. M1710 has a black lid with silver sides, but the M170 has a silver lid with black sides. Also, the M1710's lid is silver from the inside, but is black in the M170. The M170 has a black keyboard, while the M1710 has a white keyboard.

denny1514 10/05/07	This machine is absolutely beautiful and it can handle any game, from BioShock maxed out to COH opposing forces maxed out. When i first saw the 1730 online i didn't care for the design but when i opened it up i was totally amazed, the machine looks absolutely stunning, then at night the illumination is amazing. Please someone with this system please write back. Way to go Dell
