Price Protection

230 points posted to Sales Strategies, Desktops and Laptops by ppaskova 07/30/07

Dell should implement price protection of any item bought from Dell for 30 days since purchase date. Dell has 30 days return policy with full refund to customer. Dell always has sales on different items on their Website. If person bought the item and in the next 30 days found this item for a cheaper price on Dell website he / she can always return previously bought item for full refund and buy it again from Dell for discounted price. In this case Dell will lose money on picking it from customer, reselling it and shipping new item to customer. Instead customer should have ability to notify Dell about this situation and receive difference in price as a credit. This should apply to desktops and notebooks with similar configuration as well.

this would make Dell's prices negotiable in the open market. you don't buy a car, drive it for thirty days, then return it for a better price. you're asking a company to give you money because you bought and enjoyed a product for a month before deciding you didn't like the price. you're asking Dell to take a loss because you are never happy. it's Dell's revenues that make it possible for the company to keep bringing you low-priced desktops and notebooks, not the $30 difference in your purchase in 30 days.

Thats just happened to me on Monday I ordered a xps720 at $4713 and today the same machine is at $4620 but I don't mind too much its the luck of the draw, the free headsets a bit bizzare I've already got at least 3 free headsets which I don't use due to voice spammers on games!
