Rechargeable Batteries

250 points posted to Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) by premcv 07/24/07

In quite a few recent posts, there have been frequent mentions about the need for Rechargeable batteries for use within the Wireless Kit (Wireless keyboard and mouse) for starters.

My idea is for Dell to start shipping out USB Batteries.

These revolutionary USB batteries can be used in any normal Battery devices and can be simply recharged by plugging them into the USB port.

Future products from this company include: new battery formats, and batteries for mobile phones, cameras and other devices.

Mmmmm... so I want BATTERIES sticking out of my USB ports??? a little weird, don't you think?
And, since my mouse has a recharging docking station, why would I want to REMOVE THE BATTERIES FROM THE MOUSE in order to recharge them?????

Batteries sticking out of the USB ports are the only down-side of this, but the technology per-say is really interesting. These batteries do work just like their regular counterparts.

Ok fine....Sorry, I thought you were that Prem (Dell Bangalore Team) who took my CV at the University Job fair after getting through the discussion round and 30 - 40 mins of person to person interview but later diverted my resume to the Citibank recruiters (Dew point consultancy) who referred your name...
Hope you are not that person....
Excuse me plz......;)

It _is_ interesting technology, premcv. So, I did vote it up. But, it wouldn't help much with the mice that have recharging docking stations... unless the _docking station_ took the recharging power from the USB port rather than a transformer. Do that with existing batteries, and I'd find it more interesting.

Ummm, phubert, is something like this, handy in addition to the USB batteries?

While in the conversation about USB port, recharging power, docking station, I came across this one, and I just had to bring it to everyone's notice. There are lots of weird stuff out there! Its scary!

But the USB port on that one is at the wrong end, don't you think?

While on the topic of USB devices, here's another strange (but handy?) one:

And yet another:
