Explain the status tags somewhere

320 points posted to IdeaStorm by mistern 07/20/07 **IMPLEMENTED**

It seems like you just added a whole lot of status tags like "** NOT NOW **" or "** NOT LIKELY **". Could you please add an official list what these wonderfully laconic codes mean? Most codes are of course self-explaining but there's still some uncertainty left.

Thank you.

Here are the tags we're using. There is a large team of us tagging today.

**IMPLEMENTED**
**PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**
**COMING SOON**
**UNDER REVIEW**
**NOT LIKELY**
**NOT NOW**
**ALREADY OFFERED**
**IN PROGRESS**

**NOT NOW** = Yea, its nice but we're not doing that but want to mark it so you don't blow a gasket.
**NOT LIKLEY** = You have got to be kidding! It might be viable in some weird circumstance or un-foreseeable future so we're not going to piss you off and we'll mark it this way so you don't blow a gasket.
**PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED** = We offer it somewhere in our product line which may or may not be related to this idea but we don't want to figure it out we just heard that its somewhere at Dell at the water cooler, so.
**REJECTED** = They don't want you to do something drastic so they won't ever use this one.
**NOT IN YOUR LIFETIME** = reg isn't getting MacOS X on a Dell.

I think you need a separate Idea for each as to what they mean, otherwise its too much for them to remember to explain the tag.

"**NOT NOW** = Yea, its nice but we're not doing that but want to mark it so you don't blow a gasket."

I wouldn't be sure about that, for example. Wouldn't it rather be "Nice try, idiot"?

I was being nice.

And that's why we need a list with explanations.

I totally agree, but One thinks the names is enough for some unknown/uncommented reason, much like the status tags, there is no explanation and there won't be till we bombard them with maybe 20 duplicate ideas asking for it.

number of duplicates is the real indicator of value to dell?

DEFINITIONS:

**IMPLEMENTED** -- Dell has listened and we have put this idea into action. The idea is implemented.
**PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED** -- Part of this idea was implemented, but not all of it. We might tell you on these ones that certain products or certain regions implemented it, but not all.
**COMING SOON** -- It's not ready for sale yet, or otherwise "visible", but we've committed to delivering it in the future.
**UNDER REVIEW** -- Our team is reviewing this idea and evaluating it against criteria that include, but are not limited to: market impact, regional demand, feasibility, appropriate timing, vendor/supplier availability, etc.
**NOT LIKELY** -- For reasons stated in the comment box, this is not likely to be implemented.
**NOT NOW** -- Right now we do not plan to offer this, but we have not ruled it out for the future. It may be a good idea down the line.
**ALREADY OFFERED** -- We already offer this.
**IN PROGRESS** -- Working on this as we speak. (similar to coming soon)

What happened to ACKNOWLEDGED, FIXED, and UNDER CONSIDERATION? There are still ideas tagged with those.
dell_admin1
07/20/07
They will be changing. those 3 are no longer valid tags.

Reason is:
a) people thought "acknowledged" meant we were saying "no", but that was not the case, so we created some new tags that were more descriptive,
b) "fixed" is not the right way to describe an idea,
c) "under consideration" is basically now "under review" - the term "review" describes our process better than "consideration", since we do some evaluation work.

**COMING SOON** = means they are working on it and it is oviously coming soon
