Small Businesses Want True Configurability

Years ago, the Dell web configuration screens gave you a simple list of all the available options. As an experienced IT professional working in a business environment, I do not need a 'wizard' to guide me through, forcing me to read advertising for items and services I don't want. Even less do I need a configuration tool that does not include options I must have.

Sadly, though the Vostro line looks promising, configuring a machine with the options I need turns out to be impossible.

Why doesn't Dell provide a bare-bones configuration tool that let's me choose exactly what I need, and nothing else? A classic example - if you opt to configure the mini tower (base price $649) with a better processor, more disk, and no monitor, I find that's not possible. While I understand some components in a system are incompatible, so are not a valid configuration, how can ordering a business machine without a monitor be an incompatibility?

WAKE UP DELL. You are still not providing a decent service to your busy IT professional clients.

07/19/07		 Look closer at "Vostro" line... I was thinking that I would switch from Oplitlex until I saw that it only had a 10/100 network card. Ridiculous. Ever its Inspiron clones have gigabit. Strait up no show for us.
