Compact Flash Slots needed in a ultra portable or small laptop ...

230 points posted to Servers and Storage, Laptops by phayward 07/01/07

I'd very much like to see a least one model of small Laptop have a high speed compact flash slot.
Many digital cameras are still produced with Compact Flash slots, particulalry Disgital SLR's. For me, I would really like not to have to rely on adapters and such sticking out of the Laptop.

It seems that producers of laptops and pda's etc are leaving the digital camera users behind, moving very quickly to the latest and smallest memory form factors.

I can agree on this one. but space on Dell Laptops are very limited right now with the users that are demanding with Firewire and USB 2.0. It is coming Soon. just akes a bit of time i understand the extra pain of carrying one of those Adapters.
Good Idea.

compact flash slots are a little harder to put in laptops because if you notice dell uses 8 in 1 or 5 in 1 card readers which incorporates MMC SD Memory Stick Duo ETC. dell would have to add a separate slot for the CF reader which is def. doable i do like this idea though and heck it never hurts to promote!

I agree 100% with you - I just bought an XPS M1330, and my #1 complaint with it is that it lacks a CompactFlash card slot. If it had a PCMCIA slot, I could get an adaptor, but all of the ExpressCard54 adaptors I've seen stick out so far you can't leave them in all the time. There MAY be a Delkin one that solves my problem, but I'm waiting to see. Even then, that means I have to leave the remote control behind.
