Deliver M4300 with better Quadro graphics card

300 points posted to Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Precision Workstations by jzemsky 06/27/07

Been using an M70 for two years and was eager to see the Santa Rosa based workstation laptop. Looking for 15.4" as the 17" is too much to carry around and I have a Precision 390 for hardcore work (solid modeling, FEA, CFD) at the office.

It would be nice to offer a Precision M4300 with more than just the entry Quadro 360M and an analog VGA port - how about the Quadro 1600M and a DVI. This would give a powerful workstation class notebook that can be carried around.

M65 has not a dicrete grapic card but has integrate the quadro fx 350m in the motherboard.
I presume the m4300 has too.
I hope Dell introduce a new 15.4" precision based on Vostro 1500 with a quadro version of 8600gt ( quadro fx 570m)
For someone have the m70 and want a more powerfull 15.4" notebook the M4300 is not the best soluction.

Agree - configure the Precision M4300 with an nVidia Quadro FX 570M option.
You need this to compete with the Lenovo T61P.

This is exactly what I wanted when I settled for the M4300 due to it's serial port.

UPDATE: so, the 1600M is out and available on the M6300, but we're still awaiting something to top the 3500M that you can get in an M90.. maybe there is a 3600M in our near future? (And a M9300 that offers it as an option?)

Agrees. It's wasted to see a LCD screen that can go 1920 * 1200 and still running a 360M at the back, M6300's 17" is just too big to be carried around.

The m4300 has way too little graphics power. It's downright slow running lots of things, and would really benefit from having a stronger graphics card.
