Additional cosmetic customization options for Inspiron and XPS notebooks.

600 points posted to Inspiron products, Sales Strategies, XPS products by benjesuit 06/24/07

Color panels on the lid is a good start. But one would only get to enjoy that when the lid is down - which isn't often.

Therefore, I propose a range of additional cosmetics choices:

1. Choice of LCD screen bezel surround: (same range of colors for the lid)
2. Choice of Keyboard color (Black, Silver, Gray, White)
3. Choice of Touchpad/button color (same range as keyboard colors)
4. Choice of Keyboard surround color (Same range as lid colors)
5. Choice of LED panel light colors using colored inserts (Blue, cyan, red, green, yellow.)

From all the other ideas already posted

6. Have the screen rotate so the user behind can see it (yea, I don't understand that either)
7. Are the keys backlit?
8. Biometric reader.
9. Woodgrain wrist rest.
10. No Windows key.

...and laminated woodgrain top lid with choices of cherry, mahogany, oak, maple, pine etc., would be nice.

It would be but the chances of it happening are none to never, the foresight is so lacking!

Yea, its a start down the customization line, the gel padded wrist rests should be around the corner, for ASUS at least.

I ordered an Inspiron a week ago; however when I went to Staples to see what it really looked like, my heart dropped. It may be white on the closed cover, but everything else looks lke it was sprayed with silver paint. It looked cheap and bulky. For $1395, I expect design and style. Yesterday, due to design issues and screen issues, I cancelled the order. Dell, you just don't get it! Is there no one in Texas with a sense of design?
