Dell Brand Xbox 360 Compatible System

-220 points posted to Gaming by kyliemanders 06/15/07

In addition to gaming PC's, why not introduce a Dell brand Xbox 360 compatible system?

This could help Dell get into the entertainment electronics field.

Nice idea but the processor and video cards needed belong to MS so they would probibly lose money in licensing and the system wouldn't run very well as a computer because the chips MS used were tweaked for the system taking out certain PC components.

I think they should revive Sega. Sega was great.

@jervis 961 The hardware does NOT belong to microsoft. In the orginal xbox they used the Intel x86 CPU and nVidia-based graphics core. Now for the 360 they are using a IBM processor and the video card is made by ATI. Hence the OS (that software that runs it all) and the design is all that is microsofts. With that if Dell wanted to cross over to the console era, all they would have to do is talk to microsoft on lisencing (sp?) the xbox OS.

Just in case you need to read for your self here is the processor link (http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/cpu/xbox360-1.ars) and here is the video card link (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2414)

Why would anyone demote this? I love my 360 - makes a great media center extender too!

Microsoft has their own license to use and manufacture the CPU used in the Xbox 360, and thus we see their logo on the chip
