Thank You for making some of the Dell Inspiron Coupon Codes work on the E1505N

260 points posted to Dell, Dell Web Site, Linux by jmxz 05/25/07

I just ordered a E1505N - and was pleased to see that at least some Coupon Codes that talk about Inspirons and say things like "Offer is only valid on e-value code:[...list...]" also work on the E1505N.

The Idea here is to keep having (at least some) coupon codes also work on the Ubuntu models.

I wasn't really expecting them to work; but when I saw it did I configured a rather higher-end version instead of the more minimal version I was expecting to buy if the coupons didn't work. I think this means both Dell and I am both happier with the purchase I ended up making.

Thank You - Looking forward to getting the E1505N.

I tried to use a coupon code on the purchase of a E1505N. But it is applicable only to Vista based the E1505. I have delayed the purchase of my Ubuntu laptop till I am able to use a coupon that gives me a good deal.

Curious which coupon didn't work for you. If I recall, in the end a $500 off Inspirons >=$1399 code worked for me; and as i was experimenting I saw a $300 off Inspirons > $999 that I seem to recall worked on the E1505N as well. I could try to point you to them if those were what you were looking for.

jmxz, kinda curious, why didn't you wait for the new processors?

I didn't even get the highest-end CPU on the one I ordered; and don't have many really processor intensive needs. Mostly what I do is demo a web-application we sell to our customers - This involves firing up a VMWare with our servers on it; a browser; and watching it render HTML and some graphics from a test database. Overall it's more memory intensive than CPU. I'm totally not a gamer - which lets me get away with integrated graphics and no Windows; and my apparently somewhat unusual work history made me more familiar with unixes (I've used most of them in the past) than Windows. One great thing about VMWare (or any virtual PC environment - VirtualBox and Virtual Server / Virtual PC work well too) is that the sales guys don't need to have the server bogging down their system except when they're/we're using it; and they don't care what OS our software runs on (well, practically anything - but that's to please our customers, not our sales guys).

So in the end, I ordered the middle CPU choice they offered "Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5300 (2MB Cache/1.73GHz/533MHz FSB)" but upgraded the display, the disk, and the memory to near the max to better hold the virtual machines. An extra battery pushed the price high enough to qualify for a $500 off coupon code I had.

OK makes perfect sense then, I still want a review when you get it.

jmxz,

I tried to use the code: T6K2Z6P7LBRR32 which gives a $ 424 off on Inspirons. "Insprion E1505 for $799 after $424 off (before tax, fees, shipping & handling)".

I tried on the windows build and the ubuntu build. Seems like the deal expired by the time i tried using it.

"Coupons Entered: The following coupons have been entered but require additional information or do not meet eligibility requirements. Click "View Details" link(s) for more information."

I guess I will try some other coupon.

But good to hear the regular deals are applicable to the Ubuntu machines too.

The $500 off one was here:

I can't recall where I found the $300 off one - but it was on the first page of a google search for "dell coupon codes".

I do remember that some $300 off ones didn't work, but a different one did.
