Easy transfer of paid up support

I recently came across a situation where the Dell support refused support on a machine that still had a full year of its support contract left because the machine and support was registered to a different user.

In this case the machine used to belong to a company that liquidated its assets and the computer was purchased by a consumer from a resale shop.

I think Dell support should be more accustomed to situations like this and not treat the customer like a criminal.
