Offer Laptops with the SXGA without the Trulife

420 points posted to Inspiron products, Monitors and Displays, Laptops by mavtech 05/06/07

I miss my Inspiron 6000's WSXGA screen. I could see the screen in any lighting. I absolutely cannot stand the TruLife on my E1505. I can barely see the screen outside and have to close the blinds in the living room when using the laptop. I wish I could switch it out. If there had been an option to get the WSXGA WITHOUT the TruLife, I would have chosen it.

The Inspiron 6000, which was the previous model of the E1505, came with the regular SXGA. There was no glare and no bleed.

try d820, which has no truelife.

I don't like truelife glossy screens either. Unfortunately, the weight of our opinion is fragmented over a number of submissions which basically say the same thing: please offer a matte screen option.

I suggest that we all vote for the story below, to show the measure of interest in non-truelife screens. I picked it because it is currently the "no-truelife" submission with the highest score.

OMG!! Truelife screens are absolutely horrible EXCEPT in low light. If you pull all your curtains closed or sit in the bathrrom they look fabulous for watching movies. Unfortunately I did not buy my computer for watching movies (that's what my TV and portable DVD player are for). To actually work on this thing--AT WORK, I might add, I have to turn it away from any light source and even then I'm pretty much staring at my own face superimposed over Excel worksheets or Word documents. PLEASE....get rid of this trend of catering to the portable DVD market. Movies never looked bad on the old *regular* LCD screen.
