All Dell products should be available globally

Consumers should not be restricted on what is available to them based on geographic location!

I've learned that Dell does not offer all models of computers outside of the United States. That seems strange, since Dell is a direct vendor, using web sites and toll-free phone numbers to make sales - and the products for the most part aren't even made in the US! Dell should offer all their products to everyone, regardless of where they live. If Dell wants to charge a little more for the shipping, I'm sure the users would be willing to accept that to have more choice.

04/29/07		 Quick ammendment: I think you should be able to purchase any Dell product (barring security embargoes or other government intrusion) anywhere in the world. I do realize that countries such as the United States places embargoes on encryption technology and the like from being sold in other countries, and that other countries may limit what their citizens are allowed to purchase (yes, the US does that as well).

04/29/07		 I'm very curious...there's a handful of people (so far) that have demoted my suggestion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I'm totally fine with that - but none of them have commented to explain why they disagree! Does anyone feel like piping up, and letting us know their reasoning?

05/16/07		 i live in lebanon, and i would like to see all dell products in here, they usually only selected products, i for example am considering buying the Linux laptop from US and have it shipped here when available.. i certainly hope this would change.

05/25/07		 Thats rite...........i wanted to buy XPS 1710,but it wasn't available in India,atleast give us the shipping options, we are ready to spent,so why keep us waiting?

06/16/07		 Very good idea. Ubuntu Linux for Dell only available in the US? XPS M1710 unavailable in Malaysia, come'on Dell. Make sure everyone gets the stuff that Dell offers, barring security embargoes or other government intrusion.

06/27/07		 Those people who demoted the idea are ignorant lots who just demote the idea for their own pleasure. Honestly, Dell is an MNC with presence just about all over the world. isn't it fair that the same products are available all over the world?

07/20/07		 This is not likely because different customers in different regions have a wide range of varying wants and needs. We work to provide products to meet our customers' needs in whatever countries or regions they are located.

07/23/07		 dell_admin7, Thank you for your response, but I must argue against your assessment. Since the products are manufactured globally, and shipped globally, why should it make a difference on which geographic location a product is ordered from? Why can't a customer in India or Malaysia purchase an M1710 (as noted in comments above)? Sure, it might cost them more in shipping, but it should be allowed in my opinion. Of course, as you so correctly note, it isn't likely to happen....
