XPS drivers

420 points posted to Gaming, Service and Support by forestfire_88 04/21/07

I have two Insp XPS laptops, both Gen1 and Gen2 models. When I purchased these laptops, I was expecting to use it for gaming as well as other tasks. But a few months after the purchase of Gen2, there are no longer any new version drivers on the Dell support web site. It's 2007 now, and the video card driver posted on dell support site was released in 2005. The worst part is that nvidia.com and ati.com drivers does not work with the Dell systems. I pay over $3000 per laptop, I think the least Dell can do is provide updated version drivers, especially for the video card driver for the XPS line product. So, PLEASE UPDATE THE DRIVERS!!!!!!!!!!

this is true, i have a Dell Inspiron and the drivers are NOT updated. I tried to contact live support on the website but they wont let me talk to them because i purchased my laptop outside the US. When i recieved an email from the support team they basicly lied to me that the drivers are always up to date.
They really should learn to read their own website (the support team) because i know for certain that ATi has updated their drivers 3 timers or more since the driver on the dell website! KEEP YOUR DRIVERS UP TO DATE!!! I tried installing drivers from ATi.com but they say that my computer isnt supported and i should contact my manufacturer... which has very old drivers!

I have this problem with my wifes XPS desktop and my Inspiron 6000. I think they are at 1.5 years old and treated now almost as if they were 4 or 5 years old. At the very least, if they aren't going to continue supporting them, enable us to get the driver and firmware packs from the board/chipset manufacturer's.
