Charger for Additional Batteries

230 points posted to Laptop Power by jthurman 04/20/07

You have a large, multiple battery charger (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&s...) but you do not have a small external battery charger. As a power user, I have an extended run battery in addition to the standard battery for my M1210. It would be nice to charge one of them while I am off using the other. Lenovo has a 2 battery charger (http://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/uscat.nsf/$ which would be ideal coming from Dell. You use the existing AC Adapter to power the charger saving your customers.

Your hyperlink to the Lenovo (formerly IBM) multiple battery charger is broken. People can copy the whole url inside your parenthesis, or they can just go to www.lenovo.com, and then search for "multiple battery charger" - In any case, it would be great to see a Dell multiple battery charger for the Inspiron line! Road warriors (or anyone with more than just one battery) would find it useful to be able to charge up the extra batteries without having to place them in the notebook, wait for them to charge up, and then swap to the next depleted battery. Also, you could actually be USING your notebook untethered while your spare batteries were charging up! Since not all Inspiron batteries have the same connector, Dell would likely need to make a charger that had modular end connectors, based on which series notebook computer you owned. I've seen at least 3 different connector configurations on various Inspiron models.

jthurman, I think you would get more hits if you changed your topic header to say "Multiple Battery Charger," as "Small External Battery Charger" might be read as a request for just a smaller power adapter, causing people to skip the message because they don't care about power adapters.
