MultiCard reader on Laptops should include a CF card reader.

The Mulicard reader currently on DELL Inpsirons cannot read CF cards.

Pity, since many high-end cameras still use CF cards.

CF cards: 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB Sizes

- Yes CF is alive and well in IBM microdrives and high end cameras,
for both photo and video cameras. Dell should include this,
or at least a PCMCIA type III slot AND a PC Express Card Slot.

I second that. Read my post as well, XPS 1210 line could be a photographers best friend - small, light, powerful for carrying while traveling with d-slr, and crazy powerful for a Photoshop, raw converter studio machine.

I agree; I was surprised the 8-in-1 card reader on my 1420N didn't support CF; I thought it was the one of the most prevalent formats! It's most disappointing because CF is the only card format you can buy in sufficient size (> 4GB) and speed (266x, i.e. 40 MB/sec) to use as a hard drive replacement.

Nah - CF is just too big, and it's not what point-and-shoot people are using (I dare to suggest the biggest audience for Inspirons). This is an unrealistic ask.

I'm not a point and shooter. I use a Nikon d70, and it takes Compactflash.
I take multiple RAW shots, then merge to HDR. My main use for a laptop IN THE FIELD is to view and store my shots. I'll do the merging back home on my other Dell.

So for me, a laptop needs- Big drive, High res screen, and Compactflash adaptor. I'd accept one as an optional PC Card adaptor.
