I think repetitive ideas are making this website unuseful.

LOL. Well, yeah. I think that would be nice. But of course, there would be those that would violate it somehow.

I think this is the first time the linux people have been asked their opinion. Good to hear they have strong feelings to their operating system,.

Lets not forget the category 4 ideas - those related to re-organising the idea categories.

Yes, I agree. This should be re-worked where repeat ideas go in one section, while realistic ones go in another and the Linux lovers get their own section as well.

Of course all this requires ACTIVE moderation... which really isn't happening.

Considering the havoc created by adding the demote button, I'm not so sure I want Dell doing ANYTHING with the site.

Do they need to OUTSOURCE this?? Or HAVE they already done so... and made a bad choice?????

Right instead of just promoting and demoting, you could select Promote Idea, Demote Idea, Mark as Rant, Linux Repeat, OpenOffice Repeat, Silly, Spam, Useless... oh then there'd be too many buttons.

There are really basic things about this site which do not work.

Comments do not work, if they exceed a certain length. Initially, this was not a problem with comments but if there is going to be a maximum length, then that information needs to be displayed when you are entering the comment. So if 2000 characters is the maximum, then the counter would start at 2000 and crank down as you entered your comment.

The Site Moderator is not working. The updates are very infrequent and many press releases are more substantive. This alos applies to the Ideas in Action. The latest item posted is about this site being in multiple languages.

There is no email address for the site moderator. The feedback button on the site moderator site and the Ideas in Action webpages does NOT work.

So, problems can be posted here as articles or you can try sending an email message to webmaster@dell.com. webmaster@ideastorm.com is not a valid email address.

It is really frustrating because more and more, this site is looking like a one-way conversation.

Bottom-line: There needs to be a category for idea storm website problems.

Well:

They did fix one of the problems, as I was able to finally see this thread after being unable to most of last week.
