For all the people who just bought a Vista Dell,
Tried it,Hated it, and uninstalled it.

How about an Easy way to get your 15% rebate for MS software?

A simple on-line form, where Dell customers could type in their
purchase order #, machine ID Tag, and personal information.
Get an RMA reference number from Dell,
and mail back the CDs and Key Code Cards.

MS Works is Useless if you already have MS Office or Open Office:

http://www.openoffice.org/< Dell customers get cash back, or at least a Dell Gift card to buy something
they DO want.

Dell Germany gives refunds to their customers.

Dell should make it Easy for all customers to get the most value out of their new Dells.

Thank you.

The German refund is for both Microsoft Windows Vista and for Microsoft Works,

$77.53 Euros refund = about a $ 103 US Dollars Refund.

The EUR 42.29 refund for Windows Vista Home Basic is about $ 56 Dollars US, and
the EUR 35.24 refund for Works 8.0 is about $ 46 Dollars US refunded.
(plus any refunded sales tax...)

It sure would be nice if this was an easy 3 click, 2 email process for Dell customers who decide to install Windows XP, Linux or something else...

Fraud magnet, obviously. Unless there is a way to ensure that Vista and works have been uninstalled and can't be reinstalled and reactivated.

Mail the CDs and License ID cards back to Dell?

If the Dell on-line form provided an RMA number and shipping instructions, that would be helpful.

Yeah, that would be a start towards fraud prevention. In any event, that slashdot article you got this idea from seems suspect. More like a "mistake" on customer service's part. Not a matter of policy.

I'd like to see this attempted with DELL USA or DELL UK.

Well, The E.U. is charging MyCrowSoft $4,000,000 US Dollars Each Day - Until Microsoft comes into compliance with whatever the E.U. law is asking of them.

I think the E.U. DEMANDED the Source Code for Windows?

Anyway, Germany may be one of those countries where if you Ask for your Microsoft cash back
- they may be required by law to give it back to you, with no hassles . . .

Dell should give replacement XP license key to the customers who were forced to buy Vista. How about some "money back" guarantee for OS. This plain and simple "dishonest" to force people to buy something which they do not want in the first place.

So, is this IMPLEMENTED yet?

Where is the LINK, Dell ?

If you reject the eula for Windows you should be able to return it for a refund. I is known that one person in the UK took pictures of every step of rejecting the eula on a Dell laptop, and managed to get a refund on the oem price of Windows. This was on Slashdot a only few months ago.

reg: if i recall correctly, the eu got annoyed with microsoft for constantly breaking networking so as to make it extremely difficult for any other operating system to interact with windows. as well as that, product bundling (ie or wmplayer as part of windows) is also illegal in europe (as indeed it is in america). there s quite a strong movement in europe at the moment to make bundling of an operating system with hardware also illegal. this would be a very good move for the economy.
