Dell should post a summary of its labor practices... ASAP

60 points posted to Dell, Service and Support by howardnyc 03/14/07 **IMPLEMENTED**

Someone recently posted the suggestion of using slave labor... I urge DELL exec's to post a clear statement that will summarize the company's labor practices... fair wages for work.. safe working conditions... choice(!)...
Dell makes a clear stand about its policies and how we hold our suppliers accountable.

Useless... Nobody wants people to suffer, but it is up to the contractors, not DELL...
People are HAPPY to have jobs in Malaysia, Vietnam, and China. Finally they can get out from under the Communist Government Thug Boot and feed themselves!

Include the new Dell Inmate Work Program.
And, for free peoples, a Living Wage Mandate.

Dell Inmate Work Program. - rebuild America.
Reduce Poverty, Help Children, Save America, Lower Prices and Bigger Profits while helping society.
Put an end to a Vicious Cycle of Human Suffering.

Living Wage Mandate - directly adjusted for the local economy at all locations.
Living Wage = 1 worker, earning in 40 hours a week:
Enough money to support 1 spouse, 2 kids, own home, transportation, food, clothing, utilities, and some walking around money.

I think every company should be OPEN about its labor practices, worldwide. For those who honor the individuals who MAKE their business, that should be NO PROBLEM and a PLUS for them with their customers...IF those customers have any conscience at all.

Dell will always work towards employing the cheapest, highest quality labor it can find.

Thank GOD for DELL ALWAYS working towards employing the cheapest, high quality labor it can find! WOOHOO!
Somehow I see Unions dissapearing... They're Overpriced, and usually lower quality than their counterparts in Asia.

Without a union, you're a tool - to be used and disposed of at a whim.

Texas Dell Techs $40,000 year - 50% less pay than their east coast counter parts,
I guess you don't need money in Texas?

Sad.

If people are willing to work for that wage, should we refuse to pay them that?
It's like the minimum wage... Nobody will take a $2.00/hr job if it doesn't pay their bills... Companies need labor, so they will pay what the market will carry...
Cost of Living is radically LOWER in Texas I believe...
Gateway computers was forced to MOVE FROM South Dakota because they couldn't pay people enough to move to S. Dakota to work for them... So they adapted, and moved to Southern California...

Unions nowadays abuse their members and are the most corrupt bunch of people after Congress...

Think yesterday's announcement addresses your suggestion, especially pages 29-31of the following report:

For additional information check this out, as we have information about our own policies and those we hold our suppliers to:
