Adaptive menus in Windows please.

0 points posted to Software by dellvin 03/08/07

Dear Dell,

I am most annoyed by the lack of learning ability in the Microsoft Windows menu interfaces.

Why can't those millionaire programmers come up with software which learns and even predicts which commands are going to be called up on a regular basis - and then make them first choice as a menu item.

For instance, when in Explorer I always use "Open Link in New Window" which is the third option. Its ALWAYS the same.

So how about some articial intelligence boys and girls.

Thanks

How is this DELL's problem ? Or even related to DELL ? They couldn't do anything about this if they wanted to. This is almost as stupid as the "Make my computer not require to be shutdown properly" suggestion.

If you use a computer and are going to request changes, at least look into what your asking about first.

Must have gotten tired of waiting on Micro$oft hold... wonder if MS still has that radio DJ guy... "Hey suckers, there's 488 people waiting to learn how to edit meta tags in the Frontpage 98 queue... 744 suckers holding because of spyware, and 3872 waiting in the Windows 98 queue because AOL told them it wasn't their fault... Thanks for holding, and here's another hit from Madonna!"

Sounds like this poster needs to look at Linux, doesn't it?

BTW - all the Windows guys who wanted the 'demote' button are likely to have THEIR entries disappear altogether!

They have already had this feature for years. Most people disable it - I hate when the menus change automatically. I immediately set all my menus to show full contents.

@kyliemanders: They don't have this feature automatically, not on the level dellvin is talking about.

@clash: I actually agree with posting this here. If Microsoft had a suggestions website, we could put it there, but they don't. Microsoft may read it here, or a Linux developer may read it. (Mind you, which of those two do you think is more likely to pay attention..... )
