Software Selector Instead of Preinstalled Packages

220 points posted to Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Software by rawrsome 02/26/07

When I buy a Dell, I would like to have a cd/dvd media that has all of my software instead of preinstalled on the system. The software selector would provide a graphical interface with a multitude of commercial and free software.

For example:

Internet Browser Selection

Click the Internet Browser you want to install.

< Firefox (information of product displayed, with screenshots, ratings)

< Opera

< Maxthon

< Netscape

< Optimal Desktop

< FineBrowser

< iNetAdvisor

< Browse3D

CD/DVD Burner Selection

Click the CD/DVD Burner you want to install.

< Nero (specs of product, screenshots, ratings, purchase price)

< Roxio

< CDBurnerXP Pro

< BurnQuick

< Cheetah

Anti-Virus Solutions

Click the Anti-Virus solution you want to install.

< NOD32 (info, screenshots, pricing, ratings)

< ClamAV

< Sophos

< Panda

< eTrust

< TrendMicro

< AVG

< Kasperksy

< Norton AV

< McAfee

This is just an example of the Software Selector. Obviously, there will be much more eye-candy and content but everyone should get this basic idea.

Say no to preinstalled software!
