avoid the use of plastic for computers

could you avoid the use of plastic , as its price is inscreasing , in your computers. It would be a great innovation and a real green action.

What else? Why bamboo and old milk cartons of course...

We all know the bamboo thing got some success, but stop spamming us with it. Once there is little bamboo left on this planet, it will be as pricy as oil!

Cestuila, it sounds like you missed the point. The "bamboo thing" is not a solution in and of itself, but rather a demonstration of innovative thinking. It shows that alternative and recycled materials can be used successfully and that Dell has taken these things into consideration.

And with regards to your comment of "spamming", I think that the post and link are relevant given the subject matter of the idea presented.

Natural fiber sources like bamboo or hemp can be used very effectively in moulded composites - already used in automotive applications, bicycle manufacture etc - so there is no reason they can't be used to manufacture computer cases and such like.

Add to that the ease with which natural fibers can be replaced, and the benefits are clear.

Guys,

Great idea! Introducing the Dell bamboo PC: http://www.electronista.com/articles/08/04/22/dell.bamboo.pc/ and http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/22/dell-unveils-tiny-bamboo-cased-eco-compute.... You'll be happy to know that the computer is also made from 70% recycled materials like old milk jugs and detergent cases. This unit hasn't been released yet, but it will be, so stay tuned!

Thanks for helping us become the "greenest" technology company in the world.
