Please make a useable "laptop" ie:computer that you can put on your lap...
Make it cooler : I know we want more performance but you can find a way Make it quieter by using silent fans and heat pipes Place the air intakes on the sides not on the bottom.
I dont think it's vistas fault, the software doesn't generate heat. The components need to be cooled but I am pretty sure the designers can rethink the air flow of the laptop to push the hot air out the back in sufficient quantity to reduce those hot spots on the bottom.
Heh, don't you know, everything is Vista's fault... Program won't run? Darn Vista! Laptop overheating? Grrrr. Vista!! Gas prices on the rise? Ooo, I hate Vista! Dog ran away from home? That's it, I'm buying a MAC!!!
The OS may be more hardware intensive, but it does not mean that alternate cooling methods are "not possible".
I agree that there are some issues but most systems are heading the way of liquid cooling now because the technology is becoming cheaper so the need of air intake of any kind is much less.. However, having the air intakes on the sides will also reduce the amount of dirt and dust that gets sucked into the system, also reducing this kind of damage.
