Power Cable

430 points posted to Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptop Power by mbhmirc May 19

Make both cables on laptop PSU's replaceable. It' costs around £90 to replace a power unit when the cable at the laptop end becomes damaged. Making both ends detachable will allow for the cable to be replaced instead of the whole unit.

HP is already doing this on laptops.

If both the OUTLET and LAPTOP cables were replaceable, HUGE Customer savings. With respect to common cables across the system, could a power pack be enabled with a circuit that received a signature from the laptop to which it was plugged in to in order for it to provide the correct pwr to LAPTOP. Essentially, DC cord is two way comm cord

Agree!

Can you also add to that a choice of a strait and angled ( the "L" shaped) plug going into the laptop. I have Latitude D830 and it could be handy to have such cable.
Probably you can use the same dimension sockets both on the laptop and PSU. Then it will be possible to fit one side of the cable with the strait and another with the "L" shaped plug. And let the user decide which plug goes where. Handy?
