24 inch XPS One

330 points posted to Sales Strategies, XPS products by chrishedlund May 14

I'd like to see a 24 inch model of the XPS One with the following specs:

- 4 GB RAM
- 1920x1200
- VESA mount capable

Make that available and you've got a customer here...

I definatly like the idea of being VESA mounted.

Offer 2 GB and 3 GB memory options as well. Also offer a tray loaded optical drive option (I hate the slot loaded ones). And the keyboard and mouse must be wired. If what I mentioned previously is offered, then I might buy it.

It`s all about the options.

yep, the options are the most important, i would like to see this turned into a gaming machine, with at least an 8700M dual 8800GTX, on this machine, games would be AMAZING!!

Digital Canvas do basically the same thing. But their version goes all the way upto 52"!!! I did ask Dell to produce a 40" wall mountable version of the XPS One a while back. I did say Dell had missed an opportunity when the XPS One was released.

Now that opportunity is gone. Why are Dell so limited in their vision. Wall mountable XPS One is a no brainer!

Great ideas. I also think a 24" XPS One would sell like crazy and will send your thoughts to the development team.

Actually, for a 24 inch XPS One, if possible I would look to offer one with 8GB of RAM as an option as well. That would make it very attractive to those who want more RAM with 64-bit systems.

Also, if possible, include a subwoofer out or make the speakers detachable/hidden. I would definitely get a 24" if it came out but would most likely want to add a subwoofer. The only option at this point is to add a 2.1 system, which would make the integrated speakers useless. If Dell could increase the power and quality of the integrated speakers (to say 20W or so) then just adding a sub would suffice. However, if the speakers stay the way they are then make them either detachagle or hidden, so if I do add a 2.1 system the new speakers don't look redundant.

Also, offer Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate, on both the current and the proposed XPS One. The current XPS One offers only Home Premium. Offer both the 32 bits and the 64 bits versions. Offer the Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 (2 GHz), E4500 (2.2 GHz) and E4600 (2.4 GHz) processors. For the display, offer both the glossy and the anti glare options. The hard drive options should include 160 GB, 250 GB, 320 GB, 500 GB and possibly 32 GB and 64 GB solid state hard drive options. The graphics card options should include NVidia GeForce 8400 GS (128 MB), and 8600 GT (256 MB).

Actually, for the XPS Ones, I would offer at least the E8200 (2.66 GHz), E8400 (3.00 GHz) and E8500 (3.16 GHz) processors than have 6MB and 1333 FSB Caches and operate at 45 nm as opposed to the E4000 and E6000 series processors that operate at 65nm. If possible, I would also offer as options the Core2Quad Q9450 processor with a 12MB Cache. That probably would make the 24" XPS Ones more appealing, especially if such can be offered with 4GB-8GB RAM options.

Love it! Lets take this idea 1 step further.

I'd like to see this idea expanded to actual LCD TVs.

Combine a 46" LCD HD 1080p with all the bells and whisltes of the XPS One,

You'll have a COMPLETE home system for TV, DVDs, Home Theater, playing picture slid shows,
serious gaming so much so you'll get motion sickness, internet and anything else you can think of.

Combine my home computer, 46" LED LCD TV, home theater equipment all-in-one unit, I'll buy it tomorrow!

Looks like it might actually happen.. Saw some documents for the "XPS A2410" - the XPS One's code-name was A2010!!

If they're expanding the case, I think the priority should be discrete graphics. The ATi in there at the moment just can't really cut it.

Hmmm.... it would be nice to see this come to fruition. My mom is up for a new comp. She doesn't do anything fancy and where she wants to put it there is not much room. She also happens to like my 24" LCD. This would be a perfect combo. Now they just have to keep it affordable.

It hasn't been officially announced yet, but try googling "Dell A2410".

Can't say i got much out of that particular Google. Besides. 24" is still too small. 52" is where they should be going with this.
