Simplify Offerings

-70 points posted to Dell Web Site, Sales Strategies by j87b May 11

There are so many offerings on the first page for either laptops or desktops that I don't even know where to start. Look at Apple-- three main laptop lines, with three flavors for each, three main desktop offerings with three base configurations. I just don't even know where to start when picking a PC since there are too many paths to go through. I end up wasting tons of time comparing the 1000s of ways to end up at the same product.

I like it that way. The more offerings, the better.

customizing is what got dell going in the first place and is still keeping them going

Fewer product lines, continued customization within them. I fully support that idea.

I think we should simplify the presentation of the WEBPAGE not the offerings - I like to have many options but I agree that the way these options are presented in Dells webpage is confusing. The bottom line is Dell has 5 lines of laptops and 5 lines of desktops. Start there and go from general to specific in the customization process. Another point is why does Dell wants to know if the machine will be for home, office, corporate, education, goverment, etc.first ? ---- I don't get it. Offer the equipment and ask about the use later (in the options) if you gant to offer some specific items.
