Does Dell have? A "What can I do with my Dell?" web link?

The suggestion is that, if Dell isn't already doing this, to have a link off each system description page titled:

"What can I DO with my Dell?"

This could also be a standalone section with different lists of functions for home, home office, SMB, Education, etc. Meaning, depending on the area you select, you would find different 'possibilities' and system options, configurations and accessories explored.

This is LIKE a 'solutions' approach but would be educational (to customers) as well.

It would tie-in well with Dell's new premium services program(s).

Of course a separate path "Dell Solutions" would serve a similar purpose, but from another perspective.

BOTH could be most useful to customers.

As I have said before, ORDER PAGES should have pop-ups highlighting specific features...

ONE example:

When ordering a KVM switch, a pop-up that asks "Have you looked at the supported SCREEN RESOLUTION?" and offered alternatives would have saved OUR site a very annoying (and unresolvable) mistake!!

This is a great idea, one we've been trying to figure out how best to implement. We're going to be launch a new community platform soon, and we are looking at leveraging its functionality for it. We were thinking of having the community share with each other what can be or has been done with the product.

Do you think this would be better as a community initiative or do you see this as something that Dell should write?

I could see the community contributing significantly, but not to the CODE for the site.

A partnership of Dell with the community (content) would make sense in this way: Dell would better get to KNOW its customers and visa versa.

But, as I originally conceived it, the thought was that Dell would show customers the -possibilities- in different arenas... which means Dell would highlight and even drill-down to different approaches to software (including OSS) to meet different customer needs... or even to highlight -possibilities-.

ONE example is how on Windows OR Linux one could do the same that Mac owner did recently in recovering her system from a thief.

The potential is very great for new and experienced users to EXPLORE...

I just had a chat question for techs on moving disks from one server to another, retaining the OS, configuration and data... either I didn't state it well (fairly likely) and/or the tech wasn't sufficiently knowledgeable (gave me some wrong info, I believe), but a co-worker and I stepped thru the RAID config successfully...

oops... timed out the first time, didn't think it had updated!

But, as you can see from the summary, this is kind of multiple suggestions within one... the very last sentence addresses more intelligent order pages specifically.
