Lower Prices of Batteries, especially Replacements

I realize there is a temporary battery shortage that is driving up prices and also the high cost associated with getting bad batteries that have to be recalled.

However, I know that there are many Li-Ion battery suppliers in China that are currently not qualified as Dell Suppliers and will need a certain amount of work to come up to your quality specs.

Why not begin a program to upgrade their capabilities leading to a more diversified source of batteries, and hopefully, lower prices?

In the mean time, I understand that there are shortages, but it is unconsciousable to raise your prices for replacement batteries to $300 for a 9 cell battery.

That is the level of robbery associated with Sony.

If there is a shortage, hold prices stable but impose rationing instead.

Apr 22		 Dell actually I think has done some rationing. Right now, there is no option for two batteries, and before that, it had been a $500 upgrade.

HP has started to see its battery prices go up as well, as I noted the upgrade from a single eight-cell to two high-capacity eight cell batters go up to $169 recently.

May 1		 Rationing means not eliminating the option, but putting up a waiting list (which they can make you pay full price for up front), and then, giving you a reasonably certain delivery date like.... 3 months hence.

May 1		 Honestly, what customer you know is going to want to wait three months before they receive something they bought? I think the reason they took the option of an extra battery away was that you honestly at this moment only need one battery and with the shortage and without the knowledge of when it is going to end, they are just limiting the amount you can buy so that the new laptops are not delayed indefinitely waiting for a battery.
