150 points posted to IdeaStorm by ueli Apr 7

By beginning of the year I posted an idea entitled "Make TrueLife Optional again". The idea seemed to be accepted by a lot of people so it became popular with 3800+ points. It stayed on the front page of the popular ideas section for weeks and more and more promotions happened.

Anyway, as I wanted to see what happened in the last days on my idea, I found that my idea has gone. Looking at my dashboard I found that my idea has been merged. (btw. important lack of ideastorm already described here: http://www.ideastorm.com/article/show/10079612/Merged_ideas_should_redirect_t... )

Unfortunately (or happily? I think it depends on the point of view) this idea is not on the front of or not even in the popular section anyway.

I think if you merge ideas, you should also merge attributes that affect appearance of the idea (such as popularity, etc.), well unless of course you want to make ideas disappear from your frontpage :-)

When an idea gets merged it is because it is a duplicate of an older idea. Are suggesting that the original idea get merged into your duplicate because you like yours better?

By the way the original idea IS on the front page of the popular idea section, so you may want to check again.

No, i am suggesting, that popularity should not be affected by merging. I don't care if something gets merged, even if noone cared for months about this duplicate ... :-)

Actually you are right, I doublechecked the popular idea-section and now it is on it. This morning (around 9pm ideastorm-time) it wasn't. Maybe the "original" article wasn't there because popularity will be calculated by a batchjob running by midnight or I was simply blind (o; )

Actually when ideas get merged it increases the vote count. While new votes count as 10 point and then decay each vote never goes below 1 point. So each person who voted on the other idea ads to total vote count and sometimes will propel an idea higher on the popular idea page.
