Instead of offering RM2000 redemption on Blu-ray, offer other configuration without Blu-ray

90 points posted to XPS products, Laptops by programatix Mar 1

Dell Malaysia has been offering RM2,000 Instant Cash Redemption for M1530 with Blu-ray for more than 2 weeks already. http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/notebooks_best?c=my&cs... I wonder anybody here in Malaysia are crazy for this Blu-ray thing.

To increase sale, I think it should be replaced with the following full featured configuration:

  • Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7700 or 2.5 Penryn processor
  • 4GB DDR2 SDRAM
  • 15.4" Widescreen WSXGA++ (1680x1050)
  • 200GB SATA 7200RPM
  • 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT or higher
  • DVD
  • Dell Care Premium warranty

By the way, as stated in http://www.ideastorm.com/article/show/10077623/Is_Dell_trying_to_cheat_or_did..., it seems like Dell Malaysia either miscalculate or purposely make the system price as RM6,999 (after redemption) while it should be less.

Taking out the Blu-ray options and replacing with better and more worthy spec is better. For me i am not that crazy about the Blu-Ray drive considering availability of the CD is limited and very costly. Paying 1000++ above to have the Blu-ray drive, i can get a PS3 with a lot of functions in a single device.
