What would you like to see at Dell World 2013?
Duration: Dec 11, 2012 - Jan 2, 2013
Dell World is the premier event for IT professionals from organizations of all sizes, who plan, deploy and manage technology. The event brings together establishments from around the world, to address key issues they are facing today and explore technology best practices that are helping them transform.
Not able to attend Dell World this year? Not to worry, attend the premier event virtually. View the showcase on-demand or watch the live broadcasts and connect with experts and other event attendees. All from the convenience of wherever and free of charge. http://www.dellworldliveonline.com/dellworld/Home
Now that you know a bit about Dell World, here is where you can help make Dell World 2013 even better. This Storm Session will be used to collect ideas from attendees or those viewing from home on what they would like to see next year. For those in attendance at Dell World, stop by the IdeaStorm booth in the Social Networking Neighborhood where we will explain more about the site and assist you with submitting your Idea.
More refreshment stations (coffee, water, juice, et al), spread out through the venue.
Better signage, and placement of said signage. Often signs were placed low on the walls where they were easily obscured.
More seating in the solutions exchange to take advantage of unused space by the video wall so that people can sit and chat.
On the welcoming party, if the food truck idea is done again, block off a more appropriate amount of space. It was quite crowded and difficult to move around.
Also on the welcoming party, better layout of trash/recycling bins. Having them primarily by the food trucks was a logistical mistake
Mix in some more technical sessions and increase the number of lab sessions.
If possible, use a different (less plush) carpet on the show room floor. It wasn't pleasant to walk on and led to frequent shocking of people.
Have a surprise Dell Flash mob in exhibit hall 4. Start with one color, then have it travel around the area, strategically placing singers, where needed. The people wearing the questions, ask me shirts would be some of the singers :-)
Move the Alienware booth to a better location.
I didn`t know that Alieware had a booth at DellWorld since it was in the back corner until Morblore found it. The front hallway past the DellWorld social Media Prize machine and past the doors would be the perfect place to display it next year. That hallway is long and wide enough to get the attention it needs.
Better wireless internet
It was great that the convention center had wireless internet for attendees but the connection was slow and unreliable.
More time to see the Solutions Showcase
There was so many great sessions to attend that it was difficult to find time to visit the solutions showcase. Perhaps next year you can frame out some time without main sessions so customers.
Using only a printed schedule on the persons id badge
The schedule on the persons identification badge seemed to be correct.
They also provided a schedule which was different from the printed schedule
Example was Micheal Dell and President Bill Clinton were the keynote speakers from 11:00 - 12:30, but the event lasted a little longer. This was printed on the Persons ID Badge and also appeared on the Dell World app.
The CTO Summit Guide listed...
12:30 - 2:00 Lunch with Michael Dell Hilton, Salon G, 6th floor
Providing all this information, people were unsure which schedule to follow.
Since the schedule printed on the back of the identification badge, matched the Dell World app, many followed the Dell World app/printed schedule on the identification badge.
Allow Dell Employees to come and mix, mingle and/or work instead of having a seperate employee day
Having other Dell Employees come to the events to mix and mingle with the public and other companies, gives people the option to have some more knowledgeable people to share with each company and the public making it better to share more information.
More coffee stations
While there was a coffee station set up in one area it would be better to have a couple of different locations for easier access next year.
